Back To School Fun at Chuck E Cheese

Because Ben and Nathan are going back to school we went to Chuck E. Cheese and bowling as a last fun outting of the summer. I kept trying to take a picture of Ben and Nathan on the Merry-Go-Round, but kept missing Nathan and the pole kept getting in front of Ben's face.

Back to School Bowling

We also went bowling. It was funny watching the boys bowl, I kept on having to tell Ben to not raise the ball above his head and felt sorry for one of the workers since he had to retreive the ball from the middle of the lane about 3 or 4 times since Nathan didn't throw it hard enough. Nathan got a 61, Ben 67 and I got a 146 which I beieve is my best score yet.

Ben's First Day Of the First Grade

Thursday was Ben's first day of the first grade. He was very excited to go back to Acacia to learn new things and meet his teacher and old and new friends. His new teacher is Mrs Birg and from what friends have told us she's and awsome teacher. Nathan has been wearing his backpack everywhere we go since Ben started school, even to church.

Lego Camp: Day 1 Racer Cars

Ben took a week long Lego camp this week. They started out with instruction of basic engineering principles aplied to Legos and then they worked on one or two projects with the instructors walking around giving help. Then they tested their projects out. For the first day they built race cars and raced them Pinewood Dirby style.

They also built a city with their own houe or building.
All of the Legos were devided into their own boxes and compartments and at the end of each day they had to take apart their creations and put away all the bricks into their proper places.
Since Nathan was to young for this class, we worked on a few sets at home and had our own Lego Camp.

Lego Camp: Day 2 Motorized Cars

They started using motors for their cars today for the first time and every project afterwards involved motors.

There was a special box just with Figures. They could pick a different one each day to pilot whatever they made.
During the second half of the class they built a bridge that was strong enough to literally walk across.

Lego Camp: Day 3 Airplanes

They built airplanes, then they all built segments which when stacked on top of each other formed a tower that was taller then the tallest adult there.

Lego Camp: Day 4 Robots

For this days project they were tought how to make simple R2-D2 robots that actually walk.

Lego Camp: Day 5 Monorail

This did Monorails this class, unfortunatly I was a little late so Ben was partway into clean-up and had his part taken apart. Ben really loved Lego Camp.

Ventura County Fair 2009

This year we decided to go to the Ventura County Fair. We looked at Crafts, Animals & went in a ride. It was a fun time.

Ventura County Fair 2009

We walked around and looked at the livestock, which the boys seemed to like, but they kept whining about going on the Dragon ride.

This was a big piggy bank that was being used to raise money for a new exibition barn.
Ben & Nathan finally got to go on their ride, which went around in a circle and spun also, kind of like the tea cup rides at Disneyland.

Merry-Go-Round

Thursday the boys didn't have school so we went to the mall with the two story Merry-Go-Round.

Fishing Frenzy 2009

We took the boys the Fishing Frenzy again this year. They throw tons of plastic magnetic fish into the stream and for $5 each they can fish, play games for prizes, make their own fishing hats and painting. This is the second year that we have gone and they love it.
